As you may have already seen , Google has made various efforts to contribute to the earthquake relief response in Haiti. We’ve heard repeatedly from AdSense publishers on forums about wanting to help, and today, we’re pleased to let you know how you can do so with your AdSense earnings. We’re currently accepting donations from AdSense publishers with an unpaid account balance through January 31, 2010.

Bigger, Better Telescopes Needed to Find Near Earth Objects If we’re going to protect the Earth from an asteroid, we need to find the dangerous ones whizzing about in the emptiness of space. Unfortunately, the United States will not complete the survey of large near-Earth objects by 2020 as mandated, but not funded, by Congress in 2005

The world’s incredible outpouring of help to thhe people of Haiti raises the queestion: are we evolving to become more compassionate and collaborative in our quest to survive and thrive? A research team at the University of California, Berkeley, says “yes.” They are challenging long-held beliefs that human beings are wired to be selfish.

With the hope of furthering awareness and relief efforts, Google arranged for a collection of the Port-au-Prince area at even higher resolution (approximately 15cm) to complement the existing previous images. These images were gathered on Sunday (January 17). You can currently view the imagery in Google Maps in Satellite mode

As the Red Cross speculates that up to 50,000 people may have died in the Tuesday earthquake in Haiti, colleges across the country have begun tracking down students, staff, and faculty members who are studying or conducting research on the devastated island. Several schools had already been able to locate their students and employees. The University of Wisconsin at Madison has reported that the two student groups who were studying in Haiti were safe and accounted for
