The crux of the matter is that if you are ever to have a true, all-inclusive stakeholder model of governance you are going to have to make the role of a strategic leader of a school very much simpler indeed. Throw out the 250-page Guide to Law for School Governors, rip up thousands of pages of policies, consultations, development plans and committee terms of reference that have to be churned out year by year, forget the acres of forest that have to be felled to produce guidance notes from the Department for Children, Schools and Families, the local authorities, the consultants, the governance associations and Uncle Tom Cobley and all
