Paddick pledges free Wi-Fi

If Brian Paddick wins the London Mayoral election, free city-wide wireless internet access will be made available to all.

The Lib Dem candidate made the promise to deliver Wi-Fi to the whole of the district as the race for Mayor hots up.

Londoners will vote on 1 May, with opinion polls suggesting that Paddick is the third favourite for the position after Boris Johnson and Ken Livingstone.

“London is a 21st century city and as Mayor I would want to see 21st century technology accessible to all,” said Paddick.

“Access to the internet is access to knowledge, jobs and education and I will do all I can as Mayor to close the gap between the digital ‘haves’ and digital ‘have nots’,” he continued.

Paddick also said that the scheme would be piloted in 10 inner London boroughs and depending on feedback, would be rolled out further.

The ex-policeman is also promising to pedestrianise Oxford Street and to create more cycle lanes.
